New herbicidal agents contain p-substd. 2-phenoxypropionic acid derivs. (I) in combination with 1-methoxy-1-methyl-3 (4(p-methylphenethyloxy)phenyl) urea (II); (where R is Cl or Br; X is O or S; and R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, or one equivalent of a cation).S (I) and (II) exert a synergistic herbicidal effect against both mono- and dicotyledonous weeds, and their combinations are useful as selective herbicides in broadleaved cultures, (e.g. plantains, vines, fruit trees, and in forestry); in some cases they may also be used in rice crops. The combinations of (I) and (II) may also be used as plant growth regulants.
