Jet film drier for granular, fibrous or sticky solids by gaseous media, for use in the chemical and food industry, has a wedge-shaped jet chamber in which the gas ascends through a distributor plate and which is subdivided by vertical wire mesh panels. The solids are introduced above the jet chamber. The distributor plate has a gradually narrowing slot except at the end where a wide opening faces the discharge pipe at the top of the drier. This drier has a reduced power consumption and low capital cost. Its drying action is gentle and produces high-quality prods.
