The invention concerns a spring release tine. The tine includes a shaft (10) equipped with a soil working formation (12) at one end. The other end of the shaft (10) is pivotted through a pin (16) which is journalled in a sleeve (18) fixed to a frame (14). A pair of heavy duty springs (20) are connected on opposite sides of the shaft (10) between a lug (22) on the shaft (10) and a bracket (24) fixed to and subtended from the frame (14). An increase in spring force is counteracted by a progressive change in the moment arm ratio of the tine whereby the load on the soil working formation remains substantially constant upon deflection. The draught on a vehicle pulling an implement equipped with such tines also remains substantially constant when one or more of the tines are deflected. <IMAGE> |
