The ventilator is for rooms, and has a box-shaped long housing. A first flow path connects an inner used air inlet via a blower, to an outer used air outlet. A second flow path connects an inner fresh air outlet to an outer fresh air inlet. The flow paths (12,20) have two parallel channels (26,28), extending in longitudinal direction of the housing (10), with a heat exchanger (32). Each flow path is sound-insulated, and both are moved by the blower arrangement (16). The flow paths for used/fresh air may cross each other in the heat exchanger.
