The power supply installation includes an adaptor network for the operating voltage of the consuming unit without incorporating inductive elements. The adaptor network contains capacitors with switch banks to produce series and parallel combinations of capacitors. Several capacitors (1-4) of the same capacitance are connected in series across the operating voltage. They are linked to the load (17) via periodically operated changeover switches (5-8). Each changeover switch is in series with a capacitor (9-12) and a rectifier (13-18). Each of the capacitors feeds a separate rectifier stage.
