<p>The gas discharge lamp connecting choke (1) is encased at its front end by a cover (3) under which are two connections (4,5), electrically joined to the choke (1). To supply the choke (1) and associated lamp with mains current, a two pole porcelain terminal block (6) is firmly fixed to the rail (7) on which the choke (1) is also mounted. The terminals have screw clamps and expanding springs into which the incoming feeds are inserted. A housing (12), covers one feed connection (4) and part of the choke terminal (11) so that they are normally inaccessible. Also, below this housing (12) is a temp. cut-out (13) which on assembly of the party is connected to the terminal block (6) for the feeds at one end, while the other end is formed so that when the housing (12) is pushed on, electrical connection is made between the terminal block and supply wires. This ensures that the choke (1) is disabled when a cut-out (13) is to be replaced, since the main terminal block (6) is destroyed in the process. A wire bridge cannot therefore replace the cutout without this destruction taking place.</p> |
