<p>The tester has a sensor located in one of the engine's combustion chambers and connected via a cable to a display. The sensor responds to pressure waves and comprises two contacts pushed together by pressure and forced apart by a restoring force. The sensor consists of a holder, an elastic conducting tag fixed to the holder, and a moving contact cooperating with the tag. The tag and/or the holder may be made of a bimetal piece. Alternatively, the sensor has a chamber connected via a channel to the combustion chamber. A body is located in this chamber and is moved away from its rest position at the entrance of the channel and operates switching contacts. The chamber is closed by a bimetal disc containing the channel.</p> |
