A closure assembly comprising a sleeve and a flexible elongate fastening member (1) comprising first and second wire-like or rod-like gripping portions arranged substantially parallel to, and laterally spaced from, each other with their lengths disposed substantially relative to the fastening member and connected to each other by a plurality of wire-like or rod-like connecting members which lie substantially entirely outside the plane containing the first and second gripping portions, the arrangement being such that the fastening member can grip between its first and second gripping portions one or more fastening portions to hold the sleeve closed. The fastening member (1) is preferably in a form which be made by shaping a single extruded wire, and may be made of heat-recoverable metal, and may be embedded in one fastening edge (20) of the sleeve to form a heat-recoverable cavity capable of gripping the suitably shaped other fastening edge (21) of the sleeve.
