PURPOSE:To shorten the stopping time of the entire power converter protecting system by employing a defected converter gate blocking system and all converter gate blocking and normal converter restarting system. CONSTITUTION:Bypass switches 15-18 are connected in parallel with the respective converters 11-14 connected in series with each other. When at least one converter malfunctions, only the malfunctioned converter is set in a bypass pair state in response to the type of the trouble by a logic circuit additionally provided to close a bypass switch. Thereafter, the malfunctioned converted is gate blocked, all the converters are gate shirted and blocked to close the bypass switch of the malfunctioned converter, and thereafter normal converters are restarted. Thus, the stopping time of the system can be shortened by maintaining the reliability equivalent to the conventional converter. |
