PURPOSE:To measure the tilt angle of a substance to be measured simply and accurately by projecting a light from a phototransmitting fiber on to a liquid or a reflection plate floated on the liquid and by detecting the light reflected therefrom by means of a photoreceiving fiber. CONSTITUTION:Liquid 3 such as mercury is put in the spherical hollow part 2 of a container 1, to which a bundle fiber 4 is fitted vertically to the surface of the liquid. The container 1 is placed on a surface to be measured which is tilted at an angle theta to horizontality and a light is transmitted from the phototransmitting fiber 5 located in the center of the bundle fiber 4. Then the light reflected from the surface of the liquid falls into the surrounding photoreceiving fibers 6 at an angle of 2theta to the phototransmitting fiber 5. Accordingly, based on the radius of the spherical hollow part 2 and on the position of the photoreceiving fibers 6 in relation to the phototransmitting fiber 5, the tilt angle theta of the surface to be measured can be measured simply and accurately. |
