PURPOSE:To avoid the desensitization in storage of a silver halide photographic sensitive material, contg. a precursor of a developing agent, as well as the occurrence of fog, stain, etc. by using a specified Schiff base compound as the precursor. CONSTITUTION:To a photosensitive material is added a Schiff base compound such as the compound of formula I or II, as a precursor of a developing agent, obtd. by adding an aromatic primary amine developing agent such as a p-phenylenediamine or aminophenol developing agent to arylaldehydes such as benzaldehyde and naphthylaldehyde and allowing them to react at about 11-14pH. The amount of the added compound is about 0.15-0.75mol/mol of silver halide. |
