PURPOSE:To prevent staining by the scattering or dripping of ink and carry out stable printing by moving cut-off parts provided for a deflecting electrode to the front part of each ink jet head when starting or stopping ink jetting. CONSTITUTION:When starting ink drop jetting from an ink jet head 14, an electrode block consisting of a charging electrode 16, an inspecting electrode 17 and a deflecting electrode 18 is moved horizontally and perpendicularly to the jet direction of ink drops so as to place the cut-off parts 18b and 19b of the deflecting electrode in the passing positions of ink drops. When the jet action of ink drops becomes steady after jetting is started, the electrode block is moved to its normal position and printing is started. |
