Grinding wheels with improved centrifugal burst speed were prepd. by blending 0.2-5.0 % Cu2O with the abrasive and the bonding resin before shaping and curing the wheels. Thus, 50g of a uniform 70:30 mixt. of Cu2O and SiC ws preblended with 465g powd. phenolic resin and 650g fluorspar, and the preblend was added to a mix. contg. 3700g 24-grit Al2O3 abrasive, 5ml wetting agent, and 185g liq. phenolic resin.
