PURPOSE:To enable a high density bonding of a functional guest molecules by forming a monomolecular or a multilayer film composed of amphiphilic organic molecules at least one of which is a precursor for generating a nitrene or a carbene. CONSTITUTION:A monomolecular film, composed of amphiphilic organic compounds (host compounds) containing at least one organic group, which is to be a precursor for generating such a functional radical active in bonding reaction as a nitrene or a carbene, has been formed on a surface of water in advance. A bonding reaction between the host compounds and a guest compound is carried out at a interface between that monomolecular film and the aqueous phase either by adding the guest compound to the aqueous phase or by transferring that monomolecular film onto a second aqueous phase in which the guest compound is dissolved. By this procedure, a foreign water soluble functional compound is bonded chemically to a monomolecular or a multiplayer film composed of host compounds. |
