PURPOSE:To regenerate catalysts by treating catalysts consisting of Lewis acid, which is used as a catalyst for chlorination of alkybenzene nucleus, and specific compound by means of hydrogen halide. CONSTITUTION:Chlorination raction of alkyl benzene is performed by using Lewis acid, which can be also prepared by forming it during nucleus chlorination reaction or using metal or compound which has the function of Lewis acid in addition to normal Lewis acid, and the compound represented the expression shown in this papr as catalysts. In this expression, X1-X4 represent same or different hydrogen atom, halogen atom and electron absorbing or electron supplying group respectively and Y represents oxygen or sulfur atom. After removing the nucleus chlorinated substance which is an objected substance of formation from the catalysts whose selectivity of chlorination to p-position is lowered in using, hydrogen halide is added to the remainder including catalysts to regenerate these catalysts. |
