PURPOSE:To detect the tape end simply and accurately, by detecting the change of the impedance of the magnetic head which is generated for transfer from the magnetic tape to the leader tape. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic tape, which runs on the gap part of magnetic head 1, ends and the leader tape comes to the gap part, the impedance of magnetic head 1 becomes low, and the current flowed from bias oscillating circuit 4 to resistance R through magnetic head 1 is increased. Consequently, voltage drop of resistance R becomes large, and output voltages of filter circuits 5 and rectifying circuit 6 are large, and FF circuit 7 is triggerred to stop or invert running of the tape. Thus, the tape end is detected simply and accurately. |
