An ionising chamber (7) has air drawn through it and passed (6) to the inlet of the induction air filter (4). A tubular metal electrode (8) is placed concentrically inside the tubular metal ionising chamber (7). The ionising chamber (7) is connected to the vehicle earth (M). The electric field is created between the centre electrode (8) and the earthed chamber (7) by application of 50kV DC to the centre electrode. The high voltage is derived from the vehicle battery (B) by an inverter (I), supplied through a step up DC converter (CC), driving a step up transformer (T). A magnetic valve (10) placed in the duct (6) linking the ionising chamber (7) to the air filter (4) exerts a force on the ionised particles to regulate their flow.
|
