The wall uses standard precast concrete blocks (1,1A) to build dwarf roadside retaining walls with two basic types of block in the range. One type (1,1A) are approx. parallelepiped with an identical rectangular plan shape, the other block (1A) being half the depth of its counterpart (1). A faceted polygonal tenon (4) projects centrally from one block (1) end face with the matching mortice incorporated in the other end face. The smaller block (1A) geometry is obtained by bisecting the block (1) on the neutral horizontal plane. The mortices (12) and tenons (4) may be trapezoidal in the horizontal and vertical planes with splayed angles and may be reproduced on exposed faces. The bedding faces have key grooves (17) and the range has double faced end blocks (2,3).
|
