Sediment removal in sandy tidal channels - involves counterflow storage basin for retained tidal or inland surface water

The system enables artificial stabilisation of the depth of the through-flow cross-section of tidal channels, such as harbour entrances or similar, in coastal waters, esp. where sand is present. A storage basin, near, or pref. below the natural tidal limit, contains a quantity of water comprising part of the tidal water retained at the onset of ebbing and/or surface water flowing in from inland. During the rise in tide, this water is set against the direction of flow. On the sea side, at least, the basin pref. has provision for opening and closure.
