PURPOSE:To dry a photoreceptor for dehumidification and to reduce power consumption for it by detecting the moisture absorption of the photoreceptor by a potentionl sensor means and by lighting an infrared-ray heater means by a control means. CONSTITUTION:A latent image on photosensitive drum 1 is measured by potential sensor 2 after the latent image is formed. Infrared-ray heater 3 is provided near drum 1 and, for example, when the main switch of the device is turned on a humid morning, drum 1 rotates to measure the potential of a model latent image, formed by supplying a constant quantity of charge, by sensor 2. When the potential of this latent image is higher than a predetermined latent-image potential, copying operation starts as it is and when lower, infrared-ray heater 3 is turned on the rotate drum 1 continuously until the potential of the model latent image reaches a constant value. Consequently, the electric power consumption, the time up to the operation start of the device, etc., can be reduced. |
