A cardiac monitoring system includes a high fidelity transducer (19) wherein the body of the transducer (19) incorporates a rim (23) which contacts the skin of the chest wall of the patient. The transducer itself is restrained or fixed relative to the back of the patient. This allows signals, for example signals relating to valvular events, to be read from the heart which heretofore have not been obtainable in noninvasive cardiological monitoring. |
