The oil salvaging system uses a (conventional) lash-vessel as mother-ship, loading it with appropriate independent buoyant recovery units. Each unit is constructed as a self-propelled oil recovery lighter with storage tanks (5). Along one side, one or more inlet-scoop units (6) are arranged so that oil can be picked up over the lighter's full width, transfer equipment (11,12) conveying this to the tanks. The mother ship is equipped as supply vessel and provides central storage for oil from the various lighters. These can usefully be pontoon-shaped; be fitted for connecting together flexibly; vary in size.
|
