IMPARTING CURL TO ADHESIVE TAPES

A device for imparting a curl to adhesive tapes comprises means whereby the tape 14 is deformed as the tape is bent back upon itself at an angle a as it detaches from a roller 11 to which it has been adhered. The roller 11 may be heated and may be provided with spaced surface elevations parallel to the axis of rotation of the roller to produce a uniform transverse curl over the length of the tape. The angle is maintained constant by means comprising a sensor 33, a second roller 17 and a variable transmission connecting the first and second rollers. A longitudinal curl may be imparted to a tape by a device comprising a first roller provided with grooves on its peripheral surface and a second roller which deforms the tape into said grooves.
