The car radio receiver has a first memory (2) to store the frequencies of all transmitters received during one tuning sweep. A second memory (4) stores the frequencies associated with the geographic locations of the transmitter. A control circuit (5) contains a comparator (6) that compares the contents of the two memories. The control circuit is coupled to a display that shows the relevant transmitter when the contents of the two memories are the same. A processor with a third memory (7) is located in the control circuit and stores specified parameters and ensures that a signal describing the geographic location of the transmitter having the largest specified ratio is displayed (8).
