The injector pump uses a gaseous fluid, particularly steam, as the driving fluid and comprises a drive nozzle (10) directing the flow into a mixing chamber (18) and a diffusor assembly (34) downstream of this. This assembly comprises an auxiliary diffusor (32) connecting with a main diffusor (36) and with a secondary diffusor (38) through which excess pump medium is removed (via 50,52). The diffusor may have an inlet (24) for an auxiliary (cooling) medium. The cross-sectional flow area of the diffusor may be variable, e.g. by axial adjustment of the main diffusor. This adjustment may be automatically controlled.
