Laundry calender having pre-drying heated drum - followed by multiple suction-calender units using steam at 6-8 bar

A laundry calender comprises an internally-heated single- cylinder pre-drying unit followed by several suction-drums with heated steam-chests, the heating medium for all the units being superheated steam at a pressure of 6-8 bar. All the units are pref. enclosed in a single housing. This arrangement gives a high uninterrupted throughput rate with reduced power consumption, in comparison to existing designs working with steam at 10-13 bar.
