Hub reduction drive for tracked vehicle - has double toothed gear coupling between hub and drive

The heavy tracked vehicle hub reduction gearing has a double toothed gear coupling which couples the reduction gearing to the hub as well as coupling the epicyclic gearing to the hub. The torque is split over the two gear trains and provides a large torque capability without a bulky hub. The hub is cut with an inner gearing to form part of the epicyclic drive while the drive shaft passes through the centre of the reduction gearing and the epicyclic gearing. The hub is bolted to a conical extension which is supported on the stub axle by a pair of bearings.
