The rear mirror for a motor vehicle consists of a rectangular mirror frame with rounded edges, pref. made of the copolymer of styrene, butadiene and acrylonitrile. This is attached to the mirror arm by a rectangular metal plate, e.g. hot-dip galvanised steel which slides into L-shaped guides and fits to two dowels on the arm. It is fixed to the arm by a lentil head screw. The arm is linked by a ball joint to the mirror foot which is screwed through a thrust plate, made of a zinc pressure die casting, and a soft PVC plate to the bodywork. Such a mirror frame can be produced 100% automatically. The assembly can be done by unskilled persons and the mirror or its setting is not affected by vibrations.
|
