<p>An audio data transmission device, (ADT), for transmitting binary coded audio tones (1) over a telephone system, (TC). The audio data transmission device (ADT) is adapted to be utilized with a handheld, data collection terminal (DCT) provided with a speaker (12) emitting binary coded audio tones. The transmission device (ADT) consists of a muff (11) for receiving the microphone portion of a conventional telephone handpiece (T) and a solid transmission element (18). The transmission element (18) is adapted to be mechanically connected to the housing for the terminal (DCT) for channeling the data tones to the telephone handset without dampening. The transmission element (18) is defined to be mechanically tuned to the characteristics of the telephone microphone to minimize the generation of second harmonics of the desired audio tones. </p> |
