PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance, easily, by reacting methanol with CO in the presence of a catalyst composed of Ni and/or Co, a rare earth metal oxide, and optionally a Pt-group metal, and pref. pretreated with a CO-containing gas. CONSTITUTION:In the preparation of the titled substance by the reaction of methanol with CO, a composition composed of (A) Ni and/or Co, (B) a rare earth metal oxide, and optionally (C) a Pt-group metal is used as a catalyst. The weight ratios of (B) to (A) and (C) to (A) are 0.01-100 and 0.005-0.05, respectively. The activity of the above catalyst can be improved by pretreating with a CO-containing gas or a compound capable of producing CO on the surface of the catalyst (e.g. methanol) prior to the reaction. EFFECT:The objective compound can be produced without troubles such as the corrosion of the reaction apparatus and the difficult purification of the product, since halogen compounds are not used in the reaction. |
