STRAIN MEASUREMENT OF POROUS GLASS

PURPOSE:To carry out feed back for leaching crack quickly, by measuring the occurrence of stress into a porous glass part during leaching while progressing the leaching of phase-separated glass in a high-temperature aqueous solution dissolving a specific substance. CONSTITUTION:The phase-separated glass 21 is put in the container made of glass 22 (refractive index near 1.4580). The aqueous solution 23 of glycerol or mannitol having a refractive index controlled to be equal to that of skeleton glass (nd= 1.4580) is added between the phase-separated glass 21 and the container 22. The heater 24 is set on the outside of the container 22 to make it high temperature. Consequently, the occurrence of strain during leaching can be observed, and the feed back to conditions which reduce leaching cracks can be done quickly.
