The present design makes efficient use of a controller (19) by enabling the entire keyboard to be interrogated very rapidly. This requires simultaneous examination of more than one key. The design includes a keyboard having a matrix arrangement of analog keyswitches (13) arranged along column conductors (11) leading from a driver chip (25) and row conductors (12) leading to a detector chip (26). The driver chip has a strobe line (28) and multiple address lines (30) adapted to connect to a controller (19). The column conductors are sequentially pulsed by the driver chip. The detector chip has a strobe line (28) common to that of the driver chip and a multiple line data bus (10) for directing keyboard signals simultaneously from the several row columns. |
