1289255 Hydrokinetic transmissions FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 25 May 1971 [6 July 1970] 16831/71 Heading B7H [Also in Division F2] In an automotive vehicle driveline having engine-driven accessories such as a generator or alternator, a power-steering pump, cooling fan, air conditioning compressor and water pump, a hydrokinetic power transmission comprises a torque converter 22 the impeller 24 of which is connected to carrier 106 and associated planet pinions 122 of an accessory drive gear unit 94, the pinions meshing with ring gear 96 and a sun gear 126 which is connected either to the torque converter turbine 20, Fig. 2, or to the stator 26<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4. The stator includes an overrunning brake 146 to allow motion thereof only in the same direction as the impeller. A clutch allows overrunning of ring gear 96 with respect to the carrier 106 but prevents overrunning motion of the carrier with respect to the ring gear. |
