PURPOSE:To remove charges accumulated on both edges of a shift channel and to prevent the happening of accidental discharges by forming the first thin dielectric layer and second dielectric layer on a writing electrode on both edges of a shift channel. CONSTITUTION:The first thin dielectric layer is formed on an electrode array w, x11, x12...x1n of at least one substrate of a pair of substrate 2 confronting each other, providing a gas discharge space 1 between them, and then the second dielectric laye is formed on the first thin dielectric layer placing a mask on it. An edg electrode constituent partially covered with the first thin dielectric layer is obtained by removing the mask. Accumulated charges unevenly formed on both edges of the shift channel are easily conducted to the writing electrode w and a shift electrode y2n of the edge, and removed through pin holes in the first and second dielectric layers. |
