PURPOSE:To produce eddy current and turbulence of new mixture in a combustion chamber in order to improve combustion quality, by forming a plurality of semispherical recesses on the top of a piston in an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 2 is integrally mounted on a cylinder block 1 via a gasket 3. When a piston 5 moves vertically in the block 1, a combustion chamber C is formed between the piston 5 and the head 2. A plurality of semispherical recesses 6 are formed on the top of said piston 5. Turbulence or the like is produced by the recesses 6. Further, these recesses 6 may be formed on the inner surface of the head 2. |
