Title N-methyl ureas were synthesized by hydrogenating a mixt. of urea and formaldehyde at 50-150oC under 20-150kg/cm3 in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst in acidic atmosphere. Thus, a mixt. of 2.5mole ethylene-urea, 5mole paraformaldehyde, 400ml MeOH and 10 g 5% Pd-C was mixed with phosphoric acid for adjusting pH to 3 and H inleted with 10kg/cm3 and then the temp. of mixt. was rapidly increased to 130-140oC and the pressure was maintained to 30kg/cm3 for 2hrs.
