PURPOSE:To obtain a superior color image, by providing on a substrate a Co(III) complex layer, a specified interlayer, and a color forming layer containing leuco triarylmethane, imagewise exposing this recording material to visible light, sticking the color forming layer to a transfer paper, transferring this layer with heating, and finally exposing it to ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:The light and heat sensitive recording material is made by forming on transparent substrate 1 Co(III) complex layer 2 containing a Co(III) complex, a redox couple consisting of quinone having an absorption band in 400-550nm wavelengths and a hydrogen donor, such as triethanolamine triacetate, and a chelating agent chiefly consisting of dioxim or antipyrylmethane derivatives; interlayer 3 consisting of a water-soluble resin, such as polyvinyl alcohol; color forming layer 4 consisting chiefly of an acidic salt of leuco triarylmethane and a strong acid, and hexaarylbiimidazole. This recording material is exposed to the visible light reflected by original 5 in close contact with layer 4, original 5 is removed, plain paper 6 is overlaid, and heated to transfer only layer 4. Then, colored image 5'' faithful to original 5 is obtained by irradiating layer 4 on paper 6 uniformly with ultraviolet rays. |
