PURPOSE:To bring a rotating grinding body always to a required close position automatically with respect to the ground surface of a tool and make possible to carry out proper grinding operation by providing a close position detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When a grinding wheel G1 has been moved forward by driving a feed motor and said grinding wheel surface has contacted the ground surface 10' of a tool 10, a tool rest 7 is turned countercloskwise to move back the ground surface 10' slightly and a limit switch (LS-A) is actuated to cut the power source of the feed motor by this action and stop the forward movement of the grinding wheel G1. Simultaneously with the above operation, a solenoid SOL is energized by the other contact point of the limit switch (LS-A) to attract and fix the tool rest 7. A carriage 3 is reciprocated for a specified number of times in this state to perform the grinding operation. |
