The upper part, inserted into the valve body (1), consists of a cartridge (2), which has a fixed and a rotatable ceramic disc (6, 8) with passages (7, 9) which can be brought into and out of alignment, and of an operating unit, formed by a guide housing (4) and a spindle (19). The cartridge (2) is screwed into the internal thread of an inlet connecting piece (1a) of the valve body (1) in a firm manner, but such that it can be replaced. The operating unit (2) for its part is screwed into the internal thread of an installation connecting piece (1b) of the valve body, which is coaxial with respect to the inlet connecting piece (1a), such that it can be removed. A driver cam (21) of the spindle (19) engages loosely, axially, in a depression (10) of the rotatable ceramic disc (8). The operating unit (3) can be removed from the cartridge (2) when the valve passage (7, 9) is closed, without any risk of the cartridge (2) becoming detached. <IMAGE>
