PURPOSE:To inhale ink particles into a collector and to prevent inducement of the ink particles to deflecting electrodes, by a method wherein air is inhaled into the collector. CONSTITUTION:A separator 19, which separates air and ink and removes only air by a separate path, is mounted in the middle of a collection pipe 13 for connecting together a collector 12 and an ink tank 2, and the air outlet of the separator 19 and a vacuum pump 15 are coupled together through a pipe 16. With the vacuum pump activated, the pipe 16 is put into a nagative pressure condition, and ink particles 18, which are produced when ink collides with the collector 12, are induced by air current inhaled into the collector 12, and flow to the separator 19. Adhesion of the ink particles to deflecting electrodes 9a and 9b can thus be prevented. |
