PURPOSE:To simplify the fitting of a cover member by a method wherein the end sections of the cover member are contacted and held at locations adjacent to an outer fringe of a hollow molding used as a seat back, an elbowpiece, etc. for an automobile, and one or both of the contacting sections of the hollow molding and the cover member are heated and welded. CONSTITUTION:A cushion material 3 is mounted outside a hollow molding 2. To fit a cover member 4 covering the cushion material 3 at a location adjacent to an outer fringe of the hollow molding 2, one or both of the contacting sections of the hollow molding 2 and the cover member 4 are heated, and the end sections of the cover member 4 are thermally welded at locations 5 adjacent to the outer fringe of the hollow molding 2. Thus, welded sections 13 function as fixing members, and the cover member 4 can strongly be welded and secured. |
