PURPOSE:To conduct a level detection free from precision deterioration caused by equipment environments containing such factors as noise, ambient temperature, etc. by detecting a molten steel level through direct contact of an electrode wire to the surface of molten steel. CONSTITUTION:An electrode wire 5 is fed into a die 15 through an electrode wire guide pipe 6 from an electrode wire feeder 1. At that time, a voltage is applied to the electrode to the electrode wire 5. When the tip of the electrode wire 5 passes through an electrode wire fixed point passage detector 3, an electricity runs through the detector 3 and a tip detection signal is transmitted to an electrode wire feed length counter 2. The counter 2 begins counting at this point. Later when the electrode wire 5 touches a molten steel, an electricity runs to an electrode wire communication detector 4 from molten steel 14 through the die 15. A communication signal is input to the counter 2, stopping a count action and at the same time, suspending feeding of the electrode wire 5 from the electrode wire feeder 1. |
