Drawbar for close coupled trailer - has rigid control bars flanking drawbar and with trailer wheels steered

The close coupled trailer drawbar has the front axle of the trailer pivoted on the trailer chassis while the front wheels (12) are pivoted on axle stubs. The wheels are steered by steering arms linked to two control bars (2) linked between the drawbar support and the towing vehicle while an adjustable drawbar (5) takes the strain in the centre. The control bars are pivoted about a horizontal axis at the rear of the towing vehicle and a slight angular setting of the drawbar causes the control arms to move and operate the wheel steering. The trailer is able to track tighter bends due to the lateral shift of the front w.r.t. the towing vehicle.
