In this process, the rheological properties of bitumen and bituminous compositions are modified by adding compounds of the formula R<1>-R<2>-CONR<3>-R<4>-NR<5>R<6> in which R<1> is H, an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 8 carbon atoms, or a COOH or NH2 radical, R<2> is aromatic or cylcoaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R<3> is H or an -R<4>-NR<5>R<6> radical, R<4> is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 6 carbon atoms, R<5> and R<6> are aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals having up to 4 carbon atoms. The compounds, for example N-(3-dimethylpropylamino)-p-tert-butylbenzamide, N-(4-dimethylaminobutylamino)phthalamide and N-(2-dimethylaminoethylamino)tetrahydrophthalamide, are added to the starting composition in an amount of 0.1 to 5 % by weight. The additives for achieving certain rheological properties can be determined for selected starting compositions by experiments. |
