The measuring instrument is used on building sites and in the field. It comprises six electrical switching units (I-VI) having different functions, but functions which are partly dependent on one another. The unit (I) measures the amount of heat per unit time and unit area of a body (0) to be investigated with the heat-flow sensor (1 or 1'). The unit (II) measures the temperature difference with the temperature sensors (6) and (7). The unit (IV) evaluates the measurement results and calculates the heat-transmission coefficient k by taking the quotient (15) of the heat flow and the temperature difference. The absolute temperature is determined by the unit (III) in conjunction with the unit (II). The units (V) and (VI) are intended to display the measured values, in particular the heat-transmission coefficient k. The measured value can be read off a digital display (18) by means of a display selection switch (17). A recording of the behaviour of the measured values with respect to time is made possible by the plotter (20). <IMAGE>
