Each side of the filter plate (1) is covered by a sheet (10,10') of permeable material forming a filter; and each sheet (10,10') has a hole corresp. with the central hole (5) in plate (1). Each sheet is fixed to a ring flange (13,14), which clamp together in hole (5) to form one sleeve (11). Sleeve (11) pref. has a U-shaped cross-section formed by the two rings (13,14) where ring (13) has a circular lip (17) clamped over a long rib (20) on ring (14). The result is an inexpensive filter plate which can be assembled by unskilled workers. Used, e.g. in a filter press contg. a horizontal stack of plates (1) which are clamped together and used to filter waste water; beer; sugar; fruit juice; or chemicals.
