Low level localised heating is obtained by running a filament lamp, of the type conventionally used for illumination, at a reduced voltage so it is either not luminous or only faintly luminous. Alternatively, a resistance may be used in place of the lamps. A reflector may be incorporated, in say the form of an automobile headlamp, to concentrate the heat energy into a single direction. An assembly of these lamps is connected in series or series parallel combinations across the normal mains supply voltage to provide a heating surface which provides even low heat over a controlled area. The assembly provides personal comfort heating, drying, small environment control, or damp wall drying, with high efficiency because of the minimal heat loss due to the low temp. rise above ambient.
|
