PURPOSE:To facilitate assembling and inspection of an engine, to simplify the structure of the engine and to reduce the weight of a piston used in a hot-gas operated machine, by constituting the piston by a piston cap and a piston base coupled together by means of threads fromed therein. CONSTITUTION:In case of applying a piston of this invention in a Stirling engine, piston rings 12 are constituted by a support ring 12a and compression rings 12b and fitted at piston base 13. Internal thread 13a is formed in the inner surface of the piston base 13 at its upper end portion. On the other hand, a diameter-reduced portion is formed at the open end portion of piston cap 14, and external thread 14a to be engaged with the internal thread 13a is formed on the outer surface of the diameter-reduced portion. In assembling this piston, a piston rod 10 is set at the top dead point and the piston base 13 is inserted into a cylinder block 17 and fixed in place by a nut 15. Then, the piston cap 14 is threaded into the piston base 13 with a proper tool being inserted into a small hole 19. |
