PURPOSE:To control a large capacity prime mover with a relatively small capacity VVVF device by controlling the prime mover in a pulse modulation to adapt it for a necessary flow rate characteristic and starting the prime mover alone by the VVVF device variable voltage variable frequency control. CONSTITUTION:In order to control a blower along a blast furnace duct production amount change pattern designated, for example, by A, the blower is controlled with a pulse waveform indicated by C. The blower is started under VVVF control, and after started, is controlled by the commercial frequency power source. After the system necessary for starting is isolated from the other system in controlling a plurality of prime mover system, it is started and controlled with the VVVF device.
