The number plate is located behind the telephone set and has the areas around its numbers illuminated or the numbers themselves illuminated. The numbers or surrounding areas may be self-illuminating and consist of a plastic coloured with luminescent pigment. If the surrounding areas are emitting light the numbers consist of opaque covers. The number plate is covered by a transparent protective layer and is flexible and has a radial slit between 'O' and '1' or two diametrically opposite radial slits.
